1. Confidentiality
All sessions are confidential. Client identity and personal information are carefully safeguarded, subject to the confidentiality and safeguarding limits described in the Privacy Statement.
2. Initial session
The first session is an opportunity to determine whether the client and therapist are a good fit for effective collaboration. It helps clarify needs and establish a plan, including session frequency, duration of therapy and any necessary referrals.
3. Ongoing sessions
Following the initial session, session times and days may be reserved unless a different agreement is made during the last session of the month.
4. Payment
Payment may be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer. Specific payment terms may apply.
5. Cancellation and rescheduling
Clients may request to reschedule a session with at least seven days’ notice, subject to availability. Cancellation and rescheduling policies may vary and should be confirmed with Louise.
6. Length of therapy
Short-term therapy may be suitable for focused support, advice on decisions or insight into particular issues. Longer-term therapy may take a year or more where more comprehensive personal analysis is appropriate. The length of therapy is discussed collaboratively.
7. Ending therapy
Clients may choose to end therapy at any time. A minimum of two weeks’ notice is requested to support proper closure of the therapeutic process.
8. CPDs, groups, workshops and seminars
Where these services are offered, payment is made in advance. If Cognisance cancels an event, clients may reschedule. For online events, links are sent by email during the week of the event.
